About Us

About the Founders

The London Art Salon was founded by Ali Cohen and Julia Musgrave in 2013. Having become friends while studying for their Masters in Art History and Art World Practice at Christie’s Education, they found their shared appreciation and enthusiasm for art was matched by an awareness that the art world could also appear off-putting, not least in a city the size of London. Realising that there was a need for a place where people could come to learn about art in a relaxed, informal setting, Ali and Julia created the Salon in order to offer something new.

What makes us different?

We are not a school - our goal is to host invigorating social gatherings that are just as likely to shed new light on a much-loved Old Master as illuminate the seemingly impenetrable intentions of Conceptual Art.

Our Guests and Venues

Drawn from across London, the Salon has a growing database of over 500 followers, most of them educated professionals. Anyone with an interest in art is welcome, with the programme catering for beginners through to well-versed art lovers keen to find a fresh perspective.

Our venues are chosen to be welcoming, comfortable and sometimes surprising. Salon talks take place in venues across central London. With drinks and nibbles always on hand, frequent haunts include Soho and Mayfair members’ clubs and The Art Workers’ Guild, Bloomsbury. Since 2020 we've also been hosting events via Zoom.
